The Interactive Pier Project

While the real Pier is under restoration, I have been creating my own Interactive version, that will allow you to learn about historical events that had taken place on or near Southampton water since the pier was opened in 1881, events such as the Titanic, the Supermarine Spitfire, Flying boats, and Sir Christopher Cockerells Hovercraft, to mention but a few.

Many features have long since gone, but the main structure and buildings still remain, it has the worlds oldest pier train that has been in service since 1922, and the Hotspur IV ferry that was built in 1946. My pier will enable you to take a virtual ride on the train, enter buildings, look through the telescope, or even walk the pier, mouse-clicking on each engraved plank, giving credit to those who contributed towards it's restoration, to pay tribute to those engraved or to promote local business. Most of the 3D work has been taken from photographs, sketches, and help from locals who remember the pier in its former glory. I welcome your feedback.
